A remarkable collection of live steam models crafted by the late Don Bowerman, a talented model engineering enthusiast from York, is set to go to auction on Friday, 21st November, as part of Ryedale Auctioneers’ Toys and Models Sale.

Don Bowerman was well known within the local engineering community and served as Clubhouse Manager at the York City and District Society of Model Engineers. His meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to minute detail are exemplified in his stunning 5" gauge model of ‘The Agenoria’, a pioneering early steam locomotive that first ran in 1829 and was built for colliery use (pictured - with Ryedale Auctioneers' Toys and Models Specialist Nick Turner).

The original Agenoria is housed at the National Railway Museum in York, where Don personally measured and drew the locomotive before creating his precise working replica.

Beyond his passion for model engineering, Don enjoyed a long and respected career as an Engineering Manager at the Terry’s Chocolate Factory in York. His models stand as a testament to his skill, patience, and lifelong love of engineering heritage.

Don's collection of beautifully made live steam models are expected to attract strong interest from collectors and enthusiasts when they appear at auction at Ryedale Auctioneers in November.
