Posted On: 28 Feb 2022Strong competition for silver pieces led to a total hammer of £58,000 for a collection of items from a deceased estate, which also included jewellery and watches...
Top selling lots included a George V 1912 sterling silver tray with gadrooned border by K.B. London which sold for £1,600, a gent’s gold ring with 1.60ct diamond which sold for £1,050, and a pair of Edwardian candlesticks by Sheffield silversmiths Fordham & Faulkner which also made £1,050.
Two gold cased pocket watches by the prestigious British firm of J. W. Benson, watchmakers to Queen Victoria, sold for £720 and £640.
Valuer Charlotte Trueman said:
‘The items were owned by a collector from Norfolk who sadly passed away last year. When we met with his family to collect the items they described him as a “real magpie”. The market for silver is strong at the moment and both trade and private buyers were competing to win the lots.’
