A rare original poster from The Beatles’ 1963 concert at the Royal Hall in Harrogate sold for £2,800 + Buyer’s Premium at a recent auction at Ryedale Auctioneers in Kirkbymoorside (26/05/2022).
The poster, from the very earliest days of Beatlemania – at that point they had only released two singles – was given to the vendor in the early 1980s as a gift by a colleague who had worked at the Royal Hall at the time of the concert. It was the band’s first and only Harrogate gig. The poster had been stored rolled up and was later framed.
There was plenty of interest in the poster prior to auction day with potential buyers requesting reports on its condition and provenance. On auction day, bidders in the room battled it out between bidders on online auction sites easyliveauction.com and the-saleroom.com. The buyer paid a total £3,500 for the poster including the auction fees.
Auctioneer Angus Ashworth, said: ‘the provenance was good, and the poster was in good condition commensurate with its age. We knew there would be plenty of interest, and bidding was fierce.’
